These days, I’m often asked if I’m excited about wrapping up my career and moving to France. Yes, of course. Sure! I’m also nervous, amused, anxious, curious, surprised, relieved, sad, thrilled, angry … you get it. My mind is a churning sea. It’s exhausting and I’m finding ways to enjoy it.

I have an exciting update to share. This one caused a surge of emotion that took my breath away. I’ve secured a beautiful, furnished apartment!
Everyone (mostly very helpful forums) said it couldn’t be done before I arrived in France. Watch me, I said (only in my mind because I wasn’t nearly that confident).
I expected to land in France, pay for a short-term rental for at least 3 months and try to find something reasonable in that time. I searched out options in nearby towns and even other parts of France. I sent emails to agencies and was turned down several times.
Then I found a beautiful apartment listed on Seloger, a real estate platform. I created a thorough dossier, found the right balance of patience and persistence and, voila, I have a gorgeous home to move into the day I arrive. It has beautiful windows with juliet balconies, 2 bedrooms and an office, and is in a perfect location. I’ve also connected with a company that will have all my utilities set up when I arrive.
The three major pieces of this grand adventure have fallen into place with relative ease. I have an ideal renter for my condo, my visa arrived quickly and with no issues, and now I have a home to move into in France.

Back to the emotions. As I ride the waves I’m aware that the steady underlying current is happiness.
I’m simply happy.
