Week 12

I’ve started to write this post several times this week and find myself without much to say. I knew this was likely to happen as I settle into a routine.

I’ve had another wonderful week with visiting friends. I was happy to hear their impressions of Pézenas and even happier to have them cook for me. I also met more Canadians and enjoyed a visit to their home in a nearby town. On other days, I went swimming, had drinks with a neighbour and went for some walks.

Occassionally, people ask me if I’m really doing as well as my blog indicates. I am! I’ve been waiting for – watching for – signs of anxiety, loneliness or doubt. But they just don’t come. Aside from a few moments of exasperation, my mood has been steady and I’m happy and content.

Rather than my usual Challenges (how many times can I complain about my aching knees?), Learnings and Joys, I’m just going to post some photos from in and around Pézenas.

Water will always find its way.
When coffee isn’t enough.
Dogs on patios are always a source of joy for me. This beauty stared deep into my soul.
Halloween hasn’t traditionally been celebrated in France but it’s gaining in popularity.
The Pic de Vissou, standing at 482 metres tall, can be seen from Pézenas.
A beautiful view of the countryside.
I love the simplicity of this photo.

As I was preparing for my move, I knew that I would have guests coming and going through the first few months. It was comforting to know they would be here. I’m aware that, with my friends leaving tomorrow, a new chapter is about to begin. I expect to shift into more solid routines and I have a few ideas of what that will look like.

This coming week, I’ll take care of the next big administrative task – applying for my health card. I’m going to exchange my driver’s license, too. And I’ll let you know what routines I’m able to implement in next week’s blog.

À bientôt .
