Week 32

I’ve had a fairly quiet week. I enjoyed time with friends here and in Canada and I successfully avoided nearly all the tasks on my to-do list. This week’s blog is light on text but I’ve included a song that soothes when I’m overwhelmed and pictures to show that spring is emerging in the south of France.

My to-do list is long again and I barely made a dent in it this week. I have to pull together all the documents for my taxes. And I need to apply for my Carte de Sejour which replaces my visa at the end of the year. And I have emails to respond to. And I need to make an appointment with an allergist which I’m avoiding because I have to do it by phone which is challenging for me. And I need to break down boxes for recycling. And and and …

Sometimes I just get blocked. Know what I mean?

But I did have some good laughs and some good walks and I felt love a bunch of times. And I binged Bradley Cooper movies because it seemed like a perfectly good way to avoid reality. And doesn’t that sounds like a good week?

It’s been very grey here for the last few weeks. The sun peeked through every once in a while and we had one wonderfully sunny day. We also had torrential rain which I captured last Sunday morning while the church bells rang. It was lovely.

I drank my morning coffee on the balcony on the first sunny day we’ve had in weeks. I used my coffee mug from Arvo, my favourite coffee shop in Toronto, and it felt both wonderfully luxurious and comforting.

I love Marcus Mumford’s version of You’ll Never Walk Alone. I have a few go-to songs I listen to when I have trouble falling asleep. This is one of them.

À bientôt .

  1. I enjoyed the video capturing your balcony and the rain (how soothing!)… and beautiful song too ♥️. Not all weeks need to feel productive when you are retired, but that’s how we are wired from our working years, right? It’s ok to “just be”….

  2. Beautiful and evocative photos that I look forward to each week. The video was so present that one felt as if one were standing beside you listening to the rain and the church bells. It’s thrilling to think of the generations of others who have done the same thing before you. Each week your blog makes me smile. Thank you.

  3. Oh, Sue, what a lovely world you’re in, so alive, rich in nature and culture! Thanks for letting us share your journey. That balcony! 🙌

  4. I love your balcony. You are going to get so much pleasure out of it. Thanks for the photos and sharing your life.
